Trail of Painted Ponies
Legend of the Plains
Limited Edition - 1E
Model # 4022509
Artist: Joani Jiannine
Native American Plains Indians would paint symbols on a horse's body designed to empower, honor and protect during times of war. Plains Indians would also dress up a prized pony with feathers, fringe, and quills in a way that would ask the Great Spirit to lead them down the "Red Road of Peace."
There is a story that is told of a gold and white pony whose natural colors were so striking that no paint was added. Instead it was adorned with prayer feathers tied to its mane and tail, and it carried a shield with crossed arrows symbolizing friendship and harmony. The Legend of the Plains pony by Trail of Painted Ponies has those decorations and give it the beauty, mystery and power of this "Peace Pony."
