Released in 1981, MOb Rules was Black Sabbath's second album featuring former Elf and Rainbow frontman Ronnie James Dio as the group's lead vocalist, following up the 1980 classic Heaven And Hell. It was also their first without original drummer Bill Ward, replaced here by Vinny Appice. The album climbed to #29 in Billboard, and placed the singles "Turn Up The Night" and "Voodoo" on the mainstream rock chart. Highlights also include the high-octane rockers "Falling Off The Edge Of The World" and the title track, plus the epic slow-burner "The Sign Of The Southern Cross," a Sabbath fan favorite. Remastered to sound heavier than ever, Rhino's reissue of this metal masterpiece features extensive new liner notes and 2008 interviews with band members. (Rhino Records)
