Inflorescence
The Hedychium coronarium, White Butterfly Ginger,
produces abundant pure-white
flowers with a yellow throat. Sometimes called Hardy Ginger Lilly,
it has a very fragrant but short lived cut flower.
The
White Butterfly or Mariposa in Spanish,
plant forms large clusters. Allow enough space around it for its
hanging leaves and flower stems. This is a popular landscape plant.
The plant will reach a height of five to six feet and will maintain
a beautiful medium green color with proper fertilization.
Gingers belong in the plant family
Zingiberaceae, within the order of the Zingiberales.
