We’ve been asked about the size of our pipes, and the folks who have purchased from us have commented that they are so much larger than what they’ve seen available in their pipe shop.
Yes, we've found this to be the case too, and it's not by accident. Most pipe shops make their mortgage payments by selling expensive briar pipes, so the few that offer corn cob pipes usually sell only the small entry level corn cob pipes to get a new smoker interested in pipes. With that they feel they will get you started on a pipe, knowing full well that in no time you will long for a larger bowl.
So here’s a list of our current inventory with overall length (L), bowl height (BH) and bowl diameter (BD) as measured across the top of bowl, or the Outside Diameter. Notice the tiny Pony/Mizzou combo, which is only 1" across the top of the bowl. The I.D. or Inside Diameter is obviously smaller yet. This is the size you will find in most pipe shops. Now take a gander at the Free-Hand, which is as massive 1 1/2" across! Now THAT’S a pipe.
All Missouri Meerschaum pipes that we sell, from the Legend up through the General and even the large MacArthur and the Freehand have a 5/8"-3/4" I.D.
Keep in mind that every one of these pipes is unique, so the actual size will vary slightly from our measurements.
